Hey :)
I haven't made a post in a very long time... School has been demanding this year, and I only returned to Msp a few days ago. When I did log online, I received some really nice messages - thank you <3 Because of this, I decided to give out five random greetings, and I am currently trying to give out as many autos as possible.
I wanted to make a quick post about Remembrance Day, and about some forums I have seen. When I logged on yesterday, I saw a forum entitled 'Poppys'. When I clicked on it, I found a girl stating her opinion on the reasons behind wearing the poppy at this time of year. She started off by saying that, if people really wanted to respect the soldiers that lost their lives during the First World War, we should learn to spell 'poppies' correctly.
The fact that a person is wearing a poppy is enough to show respect, and honours the memory of those soldiers that defended their countries. It shouldn't matter whether their grammar is correct. As well as this, she went on to say that wearing a poppy will not bring those soldiers back, although I fail to see how correct grammar will, either.
The poppy is used as a symbol for every soldier that has died defending our country, and many others. This includes those soldiers that are fighting today; although Armistice was the celebration of the mutual agreement between the two dies to stop fighting, that doesn't mean to say that it can't be used as a sign of acknowledgement of the sacrifice that service-men and women are making every day.
On the eleventh of November, we will all remember four years that changed the world. On the eleventh of November, we will remember the soldiers that gave their lives because they had no choice, because war ripped their lives apart, and because we are forever indebted to them. On the eleventh of November, we will wear a poppy that is not pointless, that is not meaningless, and that represents far more than any of us could ever comprehend.
We will never forget.
